Gourmet by the Bay opened in St Michaels, MD in 2001. Owners Sidney and Jim Trond left the island of Nantucket for “warmer waters” after a successful run at the critically acclaimed Topper’s at the Wauwinet and island favorite, Oran Mor. Both classically trained chefs, the Tronds believe that well-prepared food made from honest ingredients speaks for itself; that good service is personal and attentive without being overbearing; and, that every event first and foremost is about creating great memories for the client. Whether they are catering a wedding, dinner party, life celebration, fundraiser or local event,
they plan all of the details with customized menus, creative presentations and superb service.
Now in its 17th season, GBTB has become one of the leading catering companies on the Eastern Shore and travels all over Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC and Delaware to meet the needs of its clients. GBTB has grown from the original team of two to now a team of 8 permanent and over 35 temporary staff. Gourmet by the Bay will handle all aspects of any event, from menu and event design, to food preparation and service, to other vendor coordination, and full-service staffing for clients. Regardless of the size of the event or the needs of the Client, Gourmet by the Bay strives to turn every event into
an extraordinary experience.
